Educational Programs
We seldom have more than a sliver of time to effectively teach kids OR adults about nature, the environment, and the inherent value of wildlife. The Internet, TV, movies, and video games vie for the top priority with children who live in a fast paced world.
Return To The Wild presents a lighthearted program that utilizes storytelling and natural history to convey important facts about birds of prey, nature, and the environment. Sometimes we even throw in a song or two to sweeten the pot!
Imagine the thrill of live birds of prey at your school, museum, festival, civic organization meeting, nature center, or scout troop…we have even educated at wedding receptions!
RTTW offers four different educational programs:

The Raptors of Indiana – Our most popular program. We bring 4 to 6 live hawks owls, and falcons and a variety of bird parts. We speak for 45 minutes to an hour and then take questions. This is a light-hearted approach to teaching the wonders of birds, the importance of habitat, and respect and care for our environment. There is also a bit of audience participation. Good for ages five through adult.

Wildlife Rehabilitation and What You Can Do To Help – We bring 3 to 4 birds that can be found in your back yard. This program requires you to have Power Point projector, or set up for us to bring a slide projector. Here we address the basics of wildlife rehab and what you can actively do to prevent injury or displacement of wildlife on your property. Good for ages five through adult.
Owls of Indiana – We bring 3 to 4 Indiana owls, and a hawk and a falcon for species contrast. Subject matter includes how owls are different from diurnal birds of prey, and the special equipment they need to hunt, raise young, and survive in a night time world. Good for ages five through adult.

Falconry: Art, History, and Sport – A 1 to 2 hour program spelling out the history of falconry, a sport where a human and a bird of prey hunt cooperatively. The art of the sport? Training a hawk or falcon to hunt in concert with a dog or two that must be trained to hunt with a hawk or falcon! The craft of falconry? It can be compared to being an angler who not only ties his lures, but makes his own rod and reel, raises his bait, and manufactures his own fishing line, waders, and hat. Also, outline of how falconry has affected history, society, and even our language. We bring 4 to 5 birds used in falconry and an assortment of equipment. Good for ages 12 through adult.
Please contact us for details on presenting a live bird program at your school, park, camp, museum, or to your civic organization. PLUS… WE HAVE PROJECTS FOR EAGLE SCOUTS!
